Over the course of her multifaceted career she's s been called A one stop entertainment shop, has been voted One of the Top New DIY Artists by Performing Songwriter Magazine and has worked with some of the music industry’s most prestigious producers, session players and recording artists who enjoy performing with her onstage as well as in the studio.
Born and raised in New York City on the Lower East side of Manhattan and the Bronx, she studied classical guitar throughout high school and grew up exposed to many genres of music and rhythms ranging from classical, R&B and classic rock to latin jazz folk and blues. As a child her mother used to put her old Motown 45’s in her Christmas stocking and some of her earliest influences ranged anywhere from Paco DeLucia and Segovia to B.B. King, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
While attending Hunter College where she majored in music and theater, Marie began to establish herself in various club scenes in NYC and throughout the U.S. playing slide guitar and singing her original compositions. She also worked part-time in several prestigious NYC recording studios where she met and started a friendship with her life long mentor and guitar guru the late great Hugh McCracken and where she states: "The real musical education began".
To her credit Marie has sung and played guitar on numerous recording projects, International music festivals film and television and has shared the bill and/or performed with Wyclef Jean, Stevie Wonder, Taj Mahal, Dr.John, Rod Stewart Blondie, and many many more.
She has toured as the support act for Mr. B.B KING bringing down sold out houses with standing ovations, encores, great reviews and personal invitations onstage by Mr. King himself. She produced and shared the musical bill with Harry Connick Jr., Johnny Lang and Buckwheat Zydeco on a short film titled “The Daily Blues” written and directed by actor Jason Wiles and has composed, written and performed original arrangements for the Hit Off-Broadway show "Phenomena" starring Celebrity magician Belinda Sinclair. She wrote and arranged several instrumental compositions and solo guitar tracks for "Project 3650" an animation short for Curious pictures and The Climate Reality Project. She's an Internationally published music writer, the recipient of several corporate and national grants for her continued support of Blues, Roots and Independent Music and is a BMI songwriter, voting member of the Grammy Awards and an avid supporter of Guitars in the Classroom where she sang and arranged the guitar parts with the late great guitar player Frank Christian for The Green Songbook released in 2011 featuring Jack Johnson. She is also featured as the Female Bass Player with the Salsa band in the 2014 Feature Film “Tio Papi”.
In 2006, Marie released her debut CD in Australia titled "Restless Angel" on RightFoot Records and built a stellar production team including engineer/producer Dae Bennett (son of Tony) and guitar player/musical director/producer Hugh McCracken. With her warm distinctive vocals, strong guitar playing, honest lyrical content and powerful rhythmic intonations Restless Angel is a generous mix of solid acoustic/rock instrumentation and a simple old fashioned blues groove. Marie has always been in the company of some of New York's most elite session players including Hugh McCracken (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Steely Dan, Alicia Keys), Mac Rebennack (aka "Dr. John"), Andy Burton (John Mayer, Ian Hunter, Rufus Wainwright), Seth Glassman (Darlene Love, Jewel, Cher), Chris Parker (Quincy Jones, Gladys Knight, The Brecker Brothers), Antione Silverman (Evanescence, Garth Brooks, Rod Stewart) ...and the list goes on. She has toured and performed in International music festivals and venues throughout Mexico, Europe and Australia which included a guest appearance at the Melbourne International Music and Blues Festival and Maton Guitars Australia. She has appeared on Good Morning Australia and is featured in several top music publications throughout Australia. Most recently her music has received rave reviews throughout Europe and India.
Currently, Marie is performing, composing and consulting for Off Broadway, film, television and commercials as well as working in the studio in preparation to release her new CD in 2019 featuring an eclectic group of "A" team New York City session players and special appearances by some very talented award winning guest artists.
